Activists on social media circulated pictures of a sum of 6,500 Egyptian pounds (equivalent to approximately $ 412) extracted from the abdomen of a patient, in an operation performed by an Egyptian medical team, at Qasr Al-Aini Hospital in Cairo.
According to press statements by a member of the medical team, the operation took a full four hours, as the patient was suffering from severe stomach pain, and he stated that he swallowed sums of money at intervals.
The doctor added that this case is the strangest for him, confirming that in more than one similar operation he extracted sharp instruments and nails, but this is the first time he encountered securities.
