The head of Turkish diplomacy began in Bamako his diplomatic marathon in West Africa.

Mevlüt Cavusoglu first met with the United Nations representative in Mali, Mahamat Saleh Annadif, to discuss, among other things, the

political transition process in that country

.

His program also provided for a meeting with members of the junta that took power on August 18 and with representatives of ECOWAS.

The Turkish minister also met with Pierre Buyoya, High Representative of the African Union for Mali, to whom he recalled Ankara's wish to organize a third Turkey-African Union partnership summit next year.

These Thursday and Friday, Mevlüt Cavusoglu will be in Guinea-Bissau and Senegal, where it will mainly be about economic cooperation.

Two months ago, the head of Turkish diplomacy was visiting Togo, Niger and Equatorial Guinea.

Earlier this year, Turkish President Erdogan visited Algeria,

Senegal

and The Gambia.

The multiplication of these African tours, especially in West Africa, in French-speaking countries, does not go unnoticed in the

context of growing tensions between Turkey and France.
