Russian fighters intercepted U.S. reconnaissance planes over the Black Sea

Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, September 9 (Reporter Wu Gang) The National Defense Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a communique on the 9th that Russian fighter planes intercepted US reconnaissance planes trying to reach the Russian border over the Black Sea on the same day.

The communiqué stated that the Russian air defense force detected a US RC-135 reconnaissance plane attempting to reach the Russian border through radar over the Black Sea that day, and then dispatched a Su-27 fighter plane to intercept it.

The Russian fighter planes accompanied the US reconnaissance plane without allowing it to enter Russian airspace.

The communiqué stated that after the US reconnaissance plane turned away from the Russian border, the Russian fighter plane returned to the base safely.

NATO aircraft headed by the United States often arrive near the Russian border for reconnaissance activities, and Russia has always firmly opposed this.
