Russia strongly protests to Germany over the Navalny incident

Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, September 9 (Reporter Wu Gang) The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the 9th saying that Germany had baseless accusations against Russia regarding the Navalny incident, and Russia strongly protested this.

The statement said that the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the German ambassador to Russia that day and lodged a strong protest to him.

Regarding Navaline's illness and hospitalization, the German side made baseless accusations and ultimatum threats against Russia, and took the opportunity to seriously damage Russia's international image.

Navalny, the 44-year-old founder of the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation, felt extremely unwell on a domestic flight in Russia on August 20.

After the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk, Navalny was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, and then to the Charité Hospital in Berlin, Germany.

Salita Hospital announced on September 7 that Navaline had recovered from a coma.

The German government issued a statement on September 2 stating that Navalny had been infected with a nerve agent called "Novijok".

German Chancellor Merkel subsequently asked Russia to answer this.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov stated on the 3rd that Germany and other European countries should not prematurely conclude on the so-called Navalny poisoning incident. Russian institutions are conducting necessary investigations, and Russia is willing to engage in dialogue on this.

German government spokesman Saibet said on the 7th that it would not rule out sanctions against Russia with the "Beixi-2" natural gas pipeline project as an option.
