As a result, as a new procedure and disposition for 18-year-olds and 19-year-olds, the family court will in principle expand the scope of cases to be sent back to prosecutors.

On the other hand, no conclusion was drawn as to whether or not the target age of protection should remain below the current age of 20, and it was said that "it is appropriate to leave the position and designation to the examination in the legislative process in the future". The Legal Council will open a general meeting in the future to report to the Minister of Justice, and based on this, the Ministry of Justice will submit an amendment to the Juvenile Law to the ordinary Diet session next year.
