Gang crime is in focus in the Riksdag's party leader debate.

The accusations are many and the words harsh against Löfven.

- When the government is part of the problem, the government must be replaced, says Moderate leader Ulf Kristersson and continues:

- Stefan Löfven and his government do not even want to acknowledge the connection between large immigration, poor integration and growing crime.

Want to see collection

SD leader Jimmie Åkesson is also attacking Löfven and the government.

He calls it "awful" that no more is being done to crack gang crime.

- Killers are still put in youth homes, gangs continue to recruit young people and since Stefan Löfven took office, the number of cases of lethal violence in criminal conflicts has increased sharply, says Åkesson.

Löfven began the debate in a different tone with the call that Sweden must join forces against crime, as society did against the corona pandemic.

- We have been able to gather strength, we help each other, we stand up for each other, we make joint sacrifices.

Let us also include it in the work to establish security in streets and squares, says Löfven.

Encourages parents

Löfven then listed everything that the government has done since the 2014 election, how the police have been strengthened and the penalties increased.

- But we are not done, because the problem remains.

The police are clear that they alone can never stop the gangs.

The police are right, the whole society must gather strength, says Löfven.

Wants to oust the government

The Christian Democrats' leader Ebba Busch also harshly criticizes the government and accuses it of not doing enough against the violence and shootings.

Busch urges members of parliament to act against Löfven.

- What is your excuse for not removing this government, she says.

According to Busch, the government is doing too little because it and the coalition parties, the Center Party and the Liberals, are divided.

L's group leader in the Riksdag Johan Pehrson called for efforts on a broad front in migration, integration and legal policy.

"Needs financial start-up"

Center leader Annie Lööf focuses on the need for an economic fresh start in Sweden.

She also mentions crime and emphasizes that the state's most basic task of guaranteeing security must be re-established.
