Israeli model Mai Tajer became the first model from her country to participate in a photo session in the UAE, after the two countries agreed to normalize relations between them last month.

Mai appeared in pajamas during a photo shoot in the desert with model Anastasia, who lives in the UAE.

Israel and the UAE agreed on August 13 to normalize relations between them, making the UAE the first Gulf state and the third Arab country to do so when the agreement is finally signed.

The photo session, which included raising the two models of the flags of Israel and the UAE, was held in the sands of Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up the UAE and the regional center for business and tourism.

Out of respect for the customs and traditions of the Emirates, the company only offered sleepwear. "We respect the assets here," said Mai Tajer.

Since entry visas have not yet been easily issued to Israeli citizens, and direct flights have not yet been organized between the two countries, the Israeli photography team arrived in Dubai on flights across Europe with second non-Israeli passports.

"The moment we heard about the normalization agreement, we thought that filming in Dubai would be a very exciting thing," director Noia Yohananov said, adding that obtaining the necessary papers took some time.

Israel and the UAE stressed the economic benefits that they might reap from normalization, and several business cooperation agreements have already been signed.

An Israeli delegation visited Abu Dhabi last week for talks on normalization.
