Floods in the Sahel: Ouagadougou heavily affected

For a week now, it has rained continuously in Ouagadougou.

The neighborhoods face a high water level.

About 300 households are affected according to a provisional report from the town hall.

In the last weekend alone, three people were killed by rainwater.

The national meteorological agency had announced heavy rains during this period.

And the authorities had issued a statement to warn the populations about the risks of flooding and the measures and behavior to adopt in the event of heavy rains.

To reach his home, Salif Guebré must cross the puddle that rises to his knees.

He set out to build a small wall to prevent rainwater from occupying his terrace.

Assane Tiagbé and his friends mobilized to provide support to families.

But they say they are powerless in the face of the extent of the damage.

There is a pregnant woman who even lost her life right outside her door.

Even if they acknowledge their share of responsibility in this situation, some people criticize the lack of pipelines.
