In the midst of the coronavirus crisis and with the center of Madrid mistreated by the pandemic, the
Canalejas complex
begins its journey.
The epicenter of luxury is installed in the emblematic Plaza de Canalejas with a project that groups three concepts:
a five-star
Four Seasons hotel;
22 exclusive homes served by the hotel services and a 15,000-square-meter shopping arcade that will have 40 brands and 15 restaurants.
The Four Seasons hotel starts on September 25, four months later than expected, since the outbreak of Covid-19 forced it to
delay its opening
scheduled for May 15.
The Canalejas Center, built by OHL Desarrollos and the Mohari Hospitality company, thus sees the light
after seven years of
tremendously complex engineering and architecture
works
.
Not only one building has been rehabilitated but
seven buildings at the same time
, which had been in disuse for 15 years, and each had a different style.
The aim of the promoters is that not only tourists enjoy the complex, but
locals can have a drink in the
hotel
lobby
or enjoy the spa.
The Four Seasons hotel
The famous Canadian hotel chain makes its first stop in Spain.
The hotel has 200 rooms, ranging from
45 square meters
to 400 meters.
The Four Seasons will have a huge spa, gym and swimming pool open to the public, as well as a restaurant, cocktail bar and banquet and meeting rooms for executives.
The hotel is going to open
in a staggered manner
, in such a way that you will not be able to enjoy all the services from the first moment due to the Covid.
Dani García's restaurant
On the seventh floor of the building is located the restaurant of Malaga chef Dani García, who has
three Michelin stars
behind him.
The hotel restaurant has a large terrace with
spectacular views of the city
and has a direct entrance from Calle Sevilla for all customers who are not staying at the hotel.
The restaurant occupies 425 square meters and has a capacity for 200 people.
The lobby
The hotel lobby is undoubtedly one of its highlights.
It was the old
Banesto operating room
and, therefore, the original counters of the bank, which have been restored, have been respected.
A total of
17,000 original pieces
have been restored
at a cost of seven million euros in a bid to preserve the historical-architectural heritage of the central area of Madrid,
The property is full of Art Deco details, marble, bronze capitals, spectacular stained glass windows and even
the safes
of the old banks, which have also been preserved.
Madrilenians will be able to enter the lobby to have an aperitif, as the bar at the entrance is open to the public.
The shopping gallery
The entrance, which is located on Calle Alcalá 10, has a marble portal with
a spectacular Art Deco grille
.
The shopping area is home to 40 brands and follows in the wake of the Harrods department store in London or the Galeries Lafayette in Paris.
The gallery can also be crossed to cross from Alcalá to Sevilla street, where the second entrance is located.
The first store to open in October will be Hermés and the rest will have to
wait until 2021
, since the works have been delayed due to the coronavirus.
The food hall
The gallery also incorporates
15 restaurants for all types of audiences
: from tapas
bars to places
with Michelin stars.
Some will be more informal open positions to be able to nibble something.
In the basement there is also
a parking lot with 400 spaces
, 80 of them are destined for the hotel and luxury residences and the rest for the general public.
