"The data announced by the head of Roszdravnadzor Alla Samoilova regarding the coding of causes of death are not based on an analysis of statistical data on the country, but were obtained during inspections of individual medical organizations," Murashko quotes Interfax.

He stressed that such an analysis is within the competence of the Ministry of Health and Rosstat.

As the minister noted, the duty of Roszdravnadzor in cases of revealing such facts is to issue orders to eliminate violations and monitor their elimination.

According to him, the Ministry of Health attaches great importance to the completeness and reliability of medical statistics.

Murashko said that the statistical registration of deaths and the determination of its causes in Russia are carried out in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, which were issued on the basis of a similar WHO document.

Earlier, Samoilova said that Roszdravnadzor revealed inaccuracies in registering deaths from COVID-19.

According to her, medical institutions differently code the causes of death of patients in hospitals: some of the deaths were registered as caused by other diseases not related to coronavirus.
