  According to the announcement issued by the Saudi prosecutor’s office, the Riyadh Criminal Court made a final judgment on the 8 persons involved in the Kashuji murder case, of which 5 were sentenced to 20 years in prison, 1 was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and the other 2 were sentenced to 7 years.   The announcement stated that after the final judgment is issued, all criminal prosecutions and private prosecutions will be terminated, and the judiciary will execute the relevant judgments in accordance with the law.

  The announcement also stated that the verdict was made after consultations with the relatives of the victim regarding his right to pardon.

  In May of this year, Salah Kashuji, the son of the victim Kashuji, issued a statement on behalf of his family, saying that he forgave the murderer of his father and expressed his "full trust in the Saudi judicial system."

According to Saudi law, the death penalty is legal, but the victim’s family has the right to pardon the offender. Once the pardon is approved, the offender can be exempt from the death penalty.
