The Russian opponent Alexeï Navalny "has been withdrawn from his artificial coma" and will "step by step" stop being on an artificial ventilator, the Berlin Charité hospital announced on Monday (September 7th) in a press release.

In its statement, however, the hospital warned that it was " 

too early to assess the long-term effects of his severe poisoning

A few hours earlier on Monday, the Kremlin had described as " 

absurd

 " and " 

unacceptable

 " the attempts " 

to associate Russia in any way with what happened

 " with Alexeï Navalny.

Berlin sets an ultimatum

A statement that comes as calls to sanction Russia multiply in the West: Berlin has thus set an ultimatum of a few days in Moscow to receive explanations, and consequences for

the Nord Stream gas pipeline project

Main opponent of the Kremlin, Alexei Navalny was " 

unequivocally

 " poisoned in Russia during an election tour by a nerve agent of the Novichok type, a substance designed in Soviet times for military purposes and already used against the former. Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in 2018 in England.

Alexei Navalny, known for his anti-corruption investigations targeting the Russian political elite, was ill on August 20 and was urgently hospitalized in Omsk in Siberia, before being evacuated to Berlin after a standoff between his entourage and the Russian doctors.
