During the spring, Natalie Gustafsson's internship as a specialist nurse at Sunderbyn Hospital in Luleå was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

The lack of practice led to Natalie missing out on higher education credits that she would normally have needed to be able to receive study grants from CSN, but since the situation is a result of the pandemic, she is still entitled to receive loans and grants from the state.

In order to have good foresight, Natalie already in the middle of the summer sent in the certificates required to prove that the missing credits were due to the corona situation.

She then made changes to her application at the end of August, which further delayed the process.

"May ask loved ones for loans"

When SVT interviewed Natalie on Friday, she still had not received word from CSN and told that the situation for her and the family was very strained:

- Luckily, I'm married so my husband has had to make sure to work really hard all summer.

But in October he will go on parental leave, and the parental allowance is not much.

If I get another bill this month, it's time to call loved ones to ask for a loan.

We did not expect this.

When SVT talks to Natalie again on Monday, it turns out that her decision had come in on Saturday.

- It's a little funny that it came the next day.

Now it says that a payout is planned this week.

According to CSN, Natalie has not had to wait unusually long given the adjustments she has made in her application.

- She has made changes and we have communicated with her.

This has meant that we needed to complete her case and have several contacts with her before we could move on.

That is also what makes it take so long.

We must make the right decision, and have the right basis, says Klas Elfving, press officer at CSN.
