Local media reported that at least 289 people, including a 12-year-old girl, were arrested in a protest in Hong Kong yesterday (6th).

In addition, at least nine people were injured during the arrest of the protesters and were taken to the hospital, and one of them was known to be seriously injured.

In particular, in the case of a 12-year-old girl arrested at the scene of a protest, controversy is growing as a video of three police officers surrounding the girl and knocking it down on the ground is released.

The arrested girl claims that she was caught by the police after coming to town to buy stationery at the time of the protests, but the police said she ran away with a suspicious look and caught it.

Earlier yesterday afternoon, protests were held in downtown Hong Kong to postpone legislative elections and enforce the Hong Kong National Security Law.

Protesters organized through internet social media held guerrilla-style demonstrations in the city center while police were unable to assemble due to the spread of Corona 19, and some protesters threw umbrellas at the police and police stations.

Of the 289 arrested, Hong Kong police say 270 were arrested on charges of participating in an illegal rally and the rest for making a fuss in public or failing to provide identification.

In this regard, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijen advocated the suppression of protests by the Hong Kong police, saying, "We support the protection of order under the laws of the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong police."
