06 September 2020Second stage in the Pyrenees and great emotions at the Tour de France.

Slovenian Tadej Pogacar wins the ninth stage, Pau-Laruns, 153km, challenging with 5GpM of which the last, Col de Marie Blanque ends at -18km, 7.7km with an average gradient of 8.6%) beating his compatriot in a sprint Primoz Roglic, new yellow jersey, and Swiss Marc Hirschi, reached at -1.5km by a quartet of pursuers after a breakaway that began at -80km.

Roglic is now the new yellow jersey with 21 ”on the Colombian Bernal, fourth in the stage, and 28” on the French Martin.

British Adam Yates, 54 "late at the finish, gives up the record and is now eighth 1'02".  



The day comes alive immediately, many attacks, brisk pace, even if the weather is also rainy at times, very treacherous.

Twelve try the action, among these the Swiss Hirschi stands out for the extension that will prove decisive.

Fatal the dreaded final ascent of Col de Marie Blanque that upsets the general classification.

A bitter day for the Italian colors: after having immediately gone into difficulty perhaps due to a physical problem, Fabio Aru abandons the race, a retreat that triggers controversy on the preparation.

On Monday the Tour is the first day of rest, it resumes on Tuesday with the tenth stage, Chateau d'Oleron-St. Martin, 169km.
