Between 2,000 and 2,500 positives for Covid, those are the figures that the approximately

67,000 tests carried out by the Community of Madrid to teachers in the region

during this past week show.

This was pointed out this Sunday by the Minister of Education, Enrique Ossorio, who took stock of these tests this Sunday during his visit to the Los Batanes youth hostel, in the town of Rascafría.

"We wanted all teachers to take serological tests before the course began to give security to all of society," remarked the counselor, who stated that Madrid "has not spared" in carrying out these tests to which they have 90% of the teachers in the region attended.

Some tests that have resulted in

a percentage of positives among teachers above 3.5%

.

Now those teachers whose test is positive will have to undergo a second test to guarantee that they can attend the classes that start in the capital this Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the event that the result of these people is positive again, they will be replaced by interns during the beginning of the course, as confirmed by Ossorio, who has disconnected this fact from the hiring of 10,600 additional teachers for this new course.

The counselor has pointed out that carrying out these tests was "a necessary measure" but it has been "a very complicated challenge because the teachers rejoined last Tuesday from their vacations."

The following day, Wednesday, the tests began that caused queues of several hours by summoning all the teachers at the same time, a situation that forced their suspension that first day.

"The first day there were queues and we have apologized for it because they waited many hours and that is not right," the counselor acknowledged.

"Spain and Madrid cannot be stopped and education cannot be stopped", has influenced Ossorio who has made "a call for tranquility" both to the educational community and to parents.

The Minister of Health has remarked that the regional government chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso has developed "a historical reinforcement" focused mainly on health and security measures for the beginning of the course,

reducing the ratio of classrooms, hiring teaching staff

and guaranteeing separation between tables.

However, Ossorio has described as "inevitable" that there is "some contagion" in this return to the classroom.

"The experience of the rest of European countries tells us that some center has been closed but that the system works," he added.

Even so, he recalled that

the closure of the centers is "the last option" contemplated by the protocol

established by the autonomous communities and the Ministry of Education.

The regional head of Education has also focused on the meeting that President Isabel Díaz Ayuso will hold this Monday with the presidents of Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha.

Ossorio has asserted that it is "key" in educational matters because "a large number" of teachers and students from Madrid reside in towns bordering Madrid belonging to both communities.

"We have to establish a common framework," he concluded.
