The delegation also undertakes a number of humanitarian tasks during its presence in Sudan, as it stands on the ground on the devastating effects of floods and their impact on hundreds of thousands of Sudanese in about 16 states, and closely touches the most important other needs that the Sudanese arena needs in the next phase of aid, in preparation for providing them within Program of the humanitarian body for the benefit of affected people.

On the other hand, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, has directed to provide urgent humanitarian aid to those affected by the effects of the floods that swept a number of Sudanese states.

His Highness ordered the Red Crescent Authority to quickly deliver aid to those affected, to alleviate their suffering and enhance their ability to cope with the repercussions of the flood, which is the worst in more than 100 years.

The Red Crescent Authority began implementing the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and developed an urgent relief plan that meets the needs of the affected people in the areas of food, health and shelter, as well as environmental sanitation.

The Secretary-General of the Red Crescent affirmed that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan come to reinforce the humanitarian and development role of the UAE in Sudan, and to show solidarity with the flood victims and to stand by them in their current circumstances.

He said that the authority will spare no effort in order to meet all the needs that the Sudanese arena currently requires.

It is noteworthy that Sudan is currently witnessing unprecedented floods, which are the most severe in 100 years, affecting most of the states of Sudan.

The Sudanese Security and Defense Council declared a state of emergency throughout the country for a period of three months, considering it a natural disaster area.

The floods killed about 100 people and injured dozens, in addition to the collapse of tens of thousands of homes, and more than half a million people were in difficult humanitarian conditions, as well as leveling agricultural lands and killing livestock.

Relief items include large quantities of medical supplies, foodstuffs, and housing, such as tents, sheets and tarpaulins.
