Large water leak at a nursing home in Gävle

The water leak could be stopped by the rescue service, which had to work to minimize the damage and try to save the building.

- There were large amounts of water from the second floor and down into the basement, in addition, water flowed on the outside of the building, says Johan Melin's internal commander at Gästrike rescue service.

At 20.40, the rescue service left the scene.

Nine people living in the accommodation have been evacuated to a floor higher up in the building.

- Neither staff nor residents should have been injured, but there is a lot of water on the site, says Johan Melin.
