François Baroin, mayor of Troyes and LR candidate approached by many activists for the presidential election of 2022, left the doubt hovering this Saturday afternoon at Port-Marly, during the official return of his party.

He will not reveal his choice until the fall.

He lets the suspense hover.

The time to talk about the presidential election has not come

However, the president of the Association of Mayors of France had warned: no taboo question.

A young activist therefore set foot in the dish by asking the question directly to François Baroin.

But he had the right to a "neither yes nor no" answer from the potential candidate.

"I will not answer you, because I did not meet a person in Troyes, or elsewhere outside my family, who does not ask me the question morning, noon and evening. A bit like you."

And to add: "But who is talking about the presidential election? We are talking about fear, the organization, the start of the school year, businesses, the recovery plan. We are talking about the future at three months, at six months , at one year ... But we are not yet talking about the presidential election. "

The mayor of Troyes therefore does not give in to the pressure and sticks to his calendar: he will unveil his decision this fall "in responsibility, with the passion for the country, the passion of [his] family and the will to do everything to to be a factor of union and not of division ".

And if François Baroin was entitled to a long standing ovation, all the elected officials who rub shoulders with him testify to his lack of desire to sacrifice his personal life ... for the presidential election.
