China News Agency, Beijing, September 4 (Reporter Zhang Ziyang) On the 4th, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a video meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Arreaza.

Wang Yi said that in the telephone conversation between President Xi Jinping and President Maduro in April this year, the two heads of state reached important consensus, which pointed out the direction and provided strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations, especially the joint fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Latin America is one of the "epicenters" of the global new crown epidemic. Venezuela is facing the challenge of preventing and controlling the epidemic, and it is also resolutely fighting against hegemony.

China firmly stands with the Venezuelan people, stands on the side of international fairness and justice, supports the Venezuelan people in their fight against the epidemic, and supports the Venezuelan government's right to safeguard national sovereignty, national dignity and development.

Wang Yi said that China attaches great importance to developing relations with Venezuela.

Although China and Venezuela are far apart, they share basic views on safeguarding their respective legitimate rights and interests, jointly supporting multilateralism, and improving global governance.

China shares the difficulties faced by Venezuela, and has provided Venezuela with several batches of epidemic prevention material assistance and dispatched a high-level medical expert team.

Venezuela is the Latin American country with the earliest and largest amount of Chinese assistance.

China is willing to provide new help and support in accordance with Venezuela's needs.

Wang Yi said that safeguarding the sovereign equality of nations, resolving disputes by peaceful means, and non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs are the most important principles of the UN Charter.

The United States has publicly declared that it will overthrow the Venezuelan government, especially at the critical moment when the Venezuelan government and the opposition are fighting the epidemic together. Instead, the United States has escalated its sanctions against Venezuela, violating the basic humanitarian spirit.

Any external interference is unpopular and unsustainable.

China believes that Venezuela has the ability and wisdom to resolve the problems it faces through domestic dialogue.

China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in this regard.

Areasa said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and China 46 years ago, the two countries have cooperated and supported each other, and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has become closer.

Venezuela thanked China for dispatching a team of medical experts and providing anti-epidemic material assistance to the appointment as soon as possible, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with relevant Chinese enterprises in the development and use of vaccines.

Venezuela also thanks China for speaking up for Venezuela on the international stage and opposing unreasonable unilateral sanctions by the United States and the West.

The United States does not want to see the rise of China and emerging market economies, attempts to delay China's development process, and also promotes Monroe Doctrine again in Latin America. These attempts will not succeed.

Venezuela firmly supports the one-China principle and believes that China's economic and social reform process will be successful.

Venezuela will continue to work to promote the process of domestic dialogue, and will hold the elections of the National Congress at the end of December as scheduled.
