Caroline Garcia, 50th in the world, was sharply eliminated on Friday in the 3rd round of the US Open by the American Jennifer Brady (41st) 6-3, 6-3 in 1:16.

The Frenchwoman, on the way to regaining the game that had allowed her to reach 4th place in the world in 2018 before a physical slump, was therefore unable to confirm her convincing victory against the Czech Karolina Pliskova (3rd in the world and head of series N.1) in the 2nd round.

The Lyonnaise has never reached the round of 16 at the US Open and her best Grand Slam result dates back to her quarter-final at Roland Garros in 2017.

For his part, Brady will face the 2016 winner Angelique Kerber (23rd) for a place in the quarterfinals.
