Report: Neighborhood war against the squatters of Nuevo Baztán
The Civil Guard is investigating whether the fire that occurred last Friday in the Eurovillas urbanization of Nuevo Baztán, which destroyed two villas and eleven vehicles, was caused by squatters who have been terrorizing the neighborhood for months.
In total, there are 52 squatted chalets in this urbanization and residents report that squatters intimidate and threaten the owners.
Every afternoon the neighbors demonstrate in front of the houses that are squatted and harass the tenants in order to expel them.
With the blow of a saucepan and frying pan, they try to drive away the newcomers and show them that they are not welcome.
In addition, they have created
alert networks in WhatsApp groups to avoid new squats and report them immediately to the Civil Guard.
"We want to clarify that these squatters who are coming to Eurovillas buy houses from the mafias and that they come here to commit crimes and cheat,"
underlines one of the residents.
"On top of that, they threaten us with death, rob us and beat us," says another of the neighbors.
