While President Alassane Ouattara is in France and is due to meet Emmanuel Macron at the end of the week, several opponents challenge the French president.

They want him to rule on the candidacy of the outgoing Ivorian head of state.

Emmanuel Macron officially welcomed Alassane Ouattara's announcement on March 5 not to seek a new mandate, calling him a "man of his word and a statesman".

However, since the change of the Ivorian president on August 6, Paris has remained silent.

The Ivorian opposition therefore urges it to position itself again.

Last open letter to date, that of Pascal Affi N'Guessan.

The FPI candidate writes to the French president that the announcement of Alassane Ouattara's new candidacy, which he describes as an "

institutional coup

 " is "a

source of conflict

 ".

Alassane Ouattara comes to ask you if not your support for his breach, at least your benevolent neutrality

 ", believes Pascal Affi N'Guessan.

“

Your silence is

(…)

variously interpreted in my country.

It is analyzed because it allows all guesswork

(…)

Your word on the contrary is eagerly awaited,

 ”adds the former Ivorian Premier.

A few days earlier, it was Guillaume Soro who published his open letter.

Addressing Emmanuel Macron, the former president of the National Assembly and also a candidate wrote this: “

Since, by expressing yourself for the first time, you are now a stakeholder in the Ivorian political debate, your silence in the face of the forfeiture which emerges would be incomprehensible.

Worse in the eyes of many, it would be worth complicity,

 ”says Guillaume Soro.

In an interview with

Le Monde

, the PDCI candidate Henri Konan Bédié indicates that he has also written to the French president to describe to him "

an inventory of the most worrying

 ".

But power is not left out.

In recent days, several ministers have been on the offensive in the Parisian media to defend what they consider to be a "

candidacy for a first term in the 3rd Republic

", and accuse the opposition of "

identity withdrawal

 " and "

inclinations. destabilization

 ”.
