The speech of the National Committee for the Salvation of the People was very brief, not allowing to go into details.

But it will at least have had the merit of putting an end to the rumors that had been circulating since Wednesday evening, maintained by Malian political leaders.

Colonel Ismaël Wagué, spokesperson for the CNSP, confirmed that the national consultations would indeed take place, and that they would begin well this Saturday, but with a format different from that which was initially envisaged: the consultations will begin on Saturday , not only in Bamako, but also in the regional capitals of the country.

It is the governors who will be responsible for directing the work, work which will only last one day and will have the objective, in the words of Colonel Wagué, of "

validating the terms of reference

 " of these consultations.

“

The national consultation on the transition will begin on Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Bamako and in the regional capitals by holding a workshop to validate the terms of reference.

The national consultation will continue from September 10 to 12, 2020 with the participation of regional, national and diaspora delegates.

"

Clearly, all the groups convened - political parties, civil society, trade unions, armed groups signatories to the peace agreement - will have to validate the objectives of future discussions.

Objectives which concern in particular the length of the transition period, the civilian or military character of the leaders, in short, all the points on which the Malians have waited to be fixed since the coup d'état, more than two weeks ago.

And it is only from September 10 to 12, therefore from Thursday to next Saturday, that the discussions themselves will begin, this time in Bamako, with regional and national delegates, and representatives of the diaspora.
