“We strongly condemn yet another criminal act by the Russian authorities, which continues to attack democracy and human rights in Russia and abroad,” the statement said.

The diplomats noted that the international community must respond appropriately to the incident.

"Only a unanimous resolute position and firm condemnation of the civilized world, including sanctions, can force the Russian authorities to stop committing crimes, grossly violating human rights and destroying the legal foundations of the world order both in relation to leading opposition politicians and entire states," added Ukrainian diplomats.

On September 2, Berlin announced that the conducted research revealed a substance from the Novichok group in Navalny. 

German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a press conference called Navalny a victim of poisoning.

The Russian embassy urged partners to avoid politicizing the incident.

As noted in the Kremlin, no toxic substances were found in Navalny's body before he was taken to Berlin.
