Trump asked his press secretary to "flirt" with North Korea's leader ... and the reason was a "wink of an eye."

Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders claimed that US President Donald Trump suggested that she return to North Korea and sacrifice herself to woo its leader, Kim Jong Un, to take from him what her country wants after she told Trump that Kim winked at her during the summit she gathered from the leader. Al-Kuri in Singapore in 2018, which was attended by a group of Trump aides, including Sanders.

Sanders recounts in her new diary that the two talked about sports, including women's soccer, and Sanders was scoring some points and then looking up “to discover that Kim is staring at her.

"He spoke directly to us in the eye, and Kim nodded and seemed to wink at me," she says. "I was shocked. I looked down quickly and kept taking notes," she says.

Sanders recounts that she told Trump about this at a later time while she was riding in the presidential limousine and former White House chief of staff, John Kelly.

Trump told her, "Kim Jong Un wants you. He liked you."

"Sir, please stop this, please," Sanders says.

But Trump continued his speech and told her, "Well, Sarah, this makes the matter happen. You go to North Korea and sacrifice for the American people. Your husband and children will miss you, but you will be a hero for your country!"

Sanders says that Trump and Kelly "burst out laughing."

Trump was initially hostile to Kim Jong Un, describing him in one of his speeches at the United Nations in 2017 as a "missile man" and threatening military action against North Korea if its government did not halt its nuclear weapons development program.

But the two have enjoyed a warm relationship since then, with the two leaders widely praising each other.

The Singapore summit in June was the first of three meetings between the two leaders during Trump's presidency, after they met again in February 2019 and then in June of the same year, when Trump became the first US president to set foot in the military region that divides the two Koreas.

Trump said at a rally in September 2018 that he and Kim "fell in love" and that North Korean leaders had written to him "beautiful" messages.
