Takis Candilis, number two of France Televisions for two and a half years, announced Wednesday his departure from the public group, in order to allow his boss Delphine Ernotte, who has just started her second term, to gain "new momentum".

"France Télévisions is entering a new five-year term. A bit like a ministerial cabinet, it is necessary to renew the teams", explained the person concerned in an interview with the daily Le Figaro, explaining that "we must seek digital experts to breathe new life into it ".

Takis Candilis, who since February 2018 was deputy general manager for the antenna and programs of the public group, also indicated that he preferred "to start with a success", and wished to return to his former profession as a series producer.

The name of his replacement has not yet been announced.

The appointment should take place in September, we told France Televisions.

Takis Candilis took over from Xavier Couture in early 2018.

Under its aegis, France Télévisions has thoroughly reviewed its organization, replacing the channel managers with thematic managers, to instill greater transversality between the different antennas and strengthen the digital dimension of the programs.

Former director of films and documentaries, Takis Candilis, born in October 1954, was a television producer responsible for several successful series ("Navarro", "L'Instit") before joining TF1 in 1999.

He was debauched by the Lagardère group in 2008 to create the Lagardère Entertainment subsidiary, later renamed Lagardère Studios, which he made the French leader in TV production.

In 2016, he took over the direction of fiction within Banijay, the European number 3 in television production, before joining France Télévisions two years later.
