One of the tasks of post-registration trials of the COVID-19 vaccine will be to obtain permission to use the drug among older age groups.

This was stated by the director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology (NITsEM) named after honorary academician N.F.

Gamalei Alexander Gunzburg.

"And I hope ... the vaccine will receive permission to be used for people with serious age-related luggage, that is, for 70, 80 and maybe even for higher age categories," RIA Novosti quotes him.

He added that post-registration tests, including those involving volunteers over 60 years old, will begin in 5-7 days.

In addition, according to Gintsburg, a number of employees of the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry at the age of 70-80 were vaccinated with the vaccine and feel well - "everyone is vigorous, healthy, active."

In turn, the assistant to the head of the Ministry of Health Alexei Kuznetsov confirmed to TASS that the upper age limit for volunteers was not established by the study protocol.

In addition, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, in an interview with the Pozdnyakov program on the NTV channel, recalled that by the end of 2020 it is planned to increase the production of the world's first vaccine against Sputnik V coronavirus to more than 1.5 million doses per month.

He also said that at present, the domestic drug is being tested abroad - for this purpose, several countries have sent 1–2 thousand doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade indicated that Russian pharmaceutical companies, if they wish, will be able to produce foreign-made vaccines at their facilities.

“Some of the pharmaceutical manufacturers will produce not only Hamaley vaccine, but also foreign-made vaccines.

There is nothing reprehensible here.

People must have a choice, ”he said.

Manturov also said that two weeks ago he was vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Sputnik V vaccine.

“On the first evening, the temperature rose slightly.

On the second day, given that the body consumes a large amount of glucose, I felt the back of my head slightly.

The third day I felt nothing at all.

Today, more than two weeks have passed, I can say that nothing in the body has changed, ”the minister explained.
