The autumn university entrance exam will also be canceled.

The announcement was expected, and today the Riksdag's Education Committee voted against an initiative that would have called on the government to still try to get the test completed.

Instead, the country's universities and colleges want to invest in arranging two university entrance exams in the spring, if it can be done in an infectious way.

Now the government also wants to review who will be responsible for the test in the future.

- I have initiated such work.

We must review the division of responsibilities, because it is quite obvious when we have now tried the university entrance exam during pandemic times that there is an uncertainty in who does what, says Matilda Ernkrans (S), Minister of Higher Education and Research.

The responsibility for the university entrance examination is today divided into 21 different higher education institutions, and the University and College Council opens up the Minister for Higher Education to instead transfer the responsibility for the examination to a single authority.

- It has not been satisfactory enough that everyone in their respective places, 21 higher education institutions and the University and College Council, have tried to take responsibility.

We need to get better coordination, says Matilda Ernkrans.

- For example, who is to be responsible for training probationers, is it the higher education institutions or can the University and College Council take a more collective responsibility?
