It was at 20.30 that the police were alerted to a place in central Sandviken and once there a man in his 35s was found injured.

According to the police, the man must have had stab wounds.

The man was taken by ambulance to the emergency room in Gävle and later in the evening, two men aged 25-35 could be arrested.

The crime classification is attempted murder.

Continued threat

When the victim arrived at the emergency room at 9 pm, it was decided on a so-called lock down of the emergency room.

This after the police informed that the situation was suspected to remain threatening to the victim.

- The police made the assessment that there was a continued threat against the patient.

The police thought that something could happen at the hospital, so we locked the emergency room.

Both for the patient's sake but also the staff's, says Ronny Stjernlöf, safety manager at Region Gävleborg.

Police on site

A lock down means that all the doors to the emergency room are locked, guards are placed, and experienced hospital staff.

- In this case, we also had police on site, says Ronny Stjernlöf.

The lock-down mode lasted from around 21.00 when the victim arrived at the emergency room, until just before 00.00.

- This is a suspected attempted murder and we are working in consultation with the police.

Just before noon, it was judged that they could return to normal operations, says Ronny Stjernlöf.
