On Monday, the Swedish Public Health Agency announced that children from the age of six should be tested to a greater extent than before for the slightest corona symptoms.

And in Örebro County, more children will be able to be tested for covid-19 from 8 September.

- It is a clear call where we say that children and young people should also be tested for symptoms, even with minor symptoms, says Gunlög Rasmussen, infection control doctor at Örebro County Region.

The youngest are not tested

Children between the ages of six and twelve will be tested via health centers and children from the age of 13 through self-tests.

The target group 0-6 years is not affected by the new directives.

The discomfort for the youngest children exceeds the benefit according to the Swedish Public Health Agency.

The authority also announces that preschool children and up to grade nine will continue to go to school even if they have mild cold symptoms, provided they are not tested positive for covid-19.
