01 September 2020The NGO Sea Watch 4 ship is sailing towards Palermo. On board 353 migrants who will be transferred to the 'Gnv Allegra', the third quarantine ship made available by the Viminale.

The ship is expected to arrive tonight or at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning.

Before the transfer, which will probably take place offshore, the Allegra will have to complete the planned technical and health inspections and have the medical and assistance personnel of the Italian Red Cross boarded.

When everything is completed, the transfer will be organized.

After that, the quarantine ship should move off the coast of Lampedusa.

Migrants on the Dattilo

The 217 migrants who arrived yesterday from Lampedusa to Porto Empedocle still remain on board the 'Dattilo' patrol boat of the Coast Guard.

The wait would be due to the lack of places in the island's reception centers.
