Fire at the Intersport store in Savenay, on the night of August 30 to 31, 2020. -

A violent fire destroyed a sports store of the Intersport brand during the night from Sunday to Monday, in the town of Savenay (Loire-Atlantique), west of Nantes.

Nearly 1,500 m2 were ablaze when the firefighters intervened, around 2:15 am.

More than 75 firefighters were mobilized.

The heat was such that the metal structure of the building collapsed.

The two neighboring stores, Gifi and Pimkie, were totally smoky.

The origin of the fire is criminal, according to the first elements of the investigation.

An attempted burglary to the car was indeed noted.

The vehicle was also there at the time of the fire.

Experts must now determine how the flames may have spread.
