The Court of Appeal in Western Sweden upholds the verdict regarding the 52-year-old man convicted of having murdered his girlfriend in Kungsbacka municipality on Christmas Day 2019. The district court's verdict regarding life imprisonment thus remains.

The man had appealed the verdict from Varberg District Court to the Court of Appeal for Western Sweden with reference to the fact that he had difficulty controlling his actions due to his poor mental state and intake of alcohol and drugs.

According to the appeal, the man also wants to avoid the damages he has to pay to the woman's acquaintances for preparation for murder as the victim may not have known about the plans until the convicted 52-year-old told about them in police interrogation. Nor on this point did the man get a hearing in the Court of Appeal.

The alarm came on Christmas Eve

It was late on Christmas Eve 2019 that the police were alerted to a suspected violent crime outside Kungsbacka. Upon arrival at the scene, the police found a dead woman in the hall of her own home.

A man was arrested the same night when he himself alerted the police and said he was guilty. The man admitted that he shot himself into the home with a shotgun and that he then shot the woman. After the murder, the 52-year-old went to kill a man in his home.

Listened to the woman for months

The man has also been filming and eavesdropping on the woman in her home for seven months. The woman's call to 112 and the shots must also be included in the audio recordings.

Varberg District Court also convicted the man of preparing for murder and of insulting photography and illegal wiretapping for placing recording equipment in the woman's home.
