August 31, 2020 The school calendar has always been a prerogative of the Regions, but this year, for the first time, it was decided for a unitary date, September 14, to symbolize the school starting all together.

However, the Province of Bolzano immediately made an independent choice, where the students will return to class on 7 September, Friuli Venezia Giulia, where they will return on 16 September, Sardinia (22 September), Puglia and Calabria (24 September) .

Now other Regions risk being added to this front: Abruzzo, where the governor Marco Marsilio says he is "strongly oriented" to the reopening of the institutes on 24 September since administrative elections take place on 20 and 21, schools must be then closed to set up the polling stations and then sanitize them after the vote, and therefore it would not make sense to open and close them within a few days.

Also in Basilicata the starting date of the school year could change, from 14 to 24 September (in the latter case, with the end of lessons on 11 June 2021).

And there is also Campania where the governor Vincenzo De Luca will decide in the coming days whether or not to confirm the date of 14, based on the data of the infection and the numbers of the school staff who took the test for the covid19.

It has been decided for some time instead that we will return to school on 7 September in South Tyrol but this is not new here: in recent years the students of this area of Italy have already returned to school early.

Also in Vo, the Paduan town, which became the "red zone" together with Codogno, the bell will ring on the 7th: it will be possible to "break in" the school organization in view of the visit of the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, scheduled for 14 September.

Early return also to the comprehensive school of Mortara, in the Pavia area, which includes elementary and middle school: the start is anticipated by a week by exploiting school autonomy.

For the rest, the decisions of most of the Regions were in line with what was communicated by the Ministry of Education: September 14 is in fact the starting date of lessons in Lazio, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy (but here the school opens on 7 of childhood), Marche, Molise, Tuscany, Liguria, Piedmont, Sicily, Province of Trento, Umbria, Valle d'Aosta and Veneto.

"At the moment, no shift of the school year is planned", confirmed today the governor of Veneto, Luca Zaia.
