• Ghana: resumption of international flights

Kokota International Airport, located outside the capital Accra, reopens and resumes operations on Tuesday, September 1.

It had been closed since March to fight the spread of the pandemic.

It was the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, who announced it on Sunday evening in a speech.

The Head of State specified that passengers arriving on Ghanaian soil will have to present a negative PCR test, carried out less than 72 hours before their departure.

They will also have to undergo a new test on arrival at the airport terminal, and at their own expense.

In the event of a positive result, the person will be taken care of by the health authorities.

The land borders will remain closed until further notice.

Ghana has so far recorded more than 44,000 cases of coronavirus, including 276 deaths.

• Nigeria: Lagos students will soon return to university

Nigerian students had been requesting it for several weeks.

Universities and higher education institutions in Nigeria's economic capital will reopen on September 14.

On his Twitter account, the governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, explains that this decision was taken because of the progress made in the fight against the virus, and the authorities' desire to gradually revive economic life.

However, he specifies that this reopening does not mean that the pandemic is over.

The authorities are also advancing the date of September 21 for a possible reopening of primary and secondary schools.

This date could however change “

depending on the health context

 ”.

: concern of several Western countries

The ambassadors of seven Western countries stationed in Zimbabwe, including that of the United States and the United Kingdom, believe that the Covid-19 "

must not be used as a pretext to restrict the fundamental freedoms of citizens

 ".

They write it in a joint statement, issued to express their "

 deep concern

" after a wave of repression.

Several

opponents have been arrested in Zimbabwe

A demonstration banned due to the coronavirus.

• Algeria

: reduction of containment measures

The Algerian authorities are changing the partial home confinement measures.

19 wilayas (prefectures) whose health situation has improved significantly, according to a press release from the Prime Minister, see these measures lifted.

However, 18 prefectures will have to observe these measures throughout the month of September.

They provide for partial confinement at home which extends from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The ban on family gatherings and events is also being renewed.

Finally, by decision of the Ministry of Justice, family visits to detainees, suspended due to the pandemic, will be able to resume from Tuesday, September 1.

• Tunisia

: wearing a mask for schoolchildren from 12 years old

The Tunisian authorities presented, at the end of last week, the health protocol relating to the start of the school year and university.

To fight against the spread of the virus, wearing a mask will be compulsory in all establishments, for staff as well as for pupils and students.

Children under 12 are exempt.

The protocol also provides for disinfection of the rooms at least twice a day, and a psychological guide has been drawn up, in order to prepare the pupils for its application.

The number of coronavirus cases in Tunisia has

increased sharply

since the opening of the borders on June 27.

With just over 3,800 confirmed cases, however, the country remains the least affected in North Africa.
