In the near future, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will receive the first batch of the newest Russian T-14 Armata tanks.

This was announced by the general director of the Uralvagonzavod concern, Alexander Potapov.

“First of all, the T-14 tank must complete the entire scope of tests, including acceptance tests, during which the Ministry of Defense comprehensively tests and approves equipment.

In the near future, a batch of vehicles will be delivered to the troops, ”Potapov said in an interview with TASS.

Alexander Potapov noted that the T-14 "Armata" is already attracting attention abroad.

“And it is of great interest not only for the Russian army, but also for foreign customers who are already beginning to check us for the possibility of supplying or creating licensed production of this equipment there,” said the general director of Uralvagonzavod.

Recall that in April this year, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov said that serial deliveries of T-14 tanks on the Armata platform to the Russian army would begin in 2021.

The minister also said that T-14 tanks were tested in Syria.

At the same time, he noted that, despite the presence of preliminary export applications, supplies abroad will begin only after serial supplies to the Russian Armed Forces.

Platform of the future

Alexander Potapov noted that in comparison with other modern tanks, for example the T-72, the Armata platform has a much larger prospective modernization stock and is a "tank for the near future."

“In my opinion, it will have a very great future, the magnitude of which is difficult, of course, to predict, but this is not a decade, and maybe 50 years or more.

There is no such other tank in nature and will not appear in the near future for sure, ”Potapov said.

The general director of Uralvagonzavod noted that "a completely new tank"

The T-14 is the logical culmination of a great work that began in the late 1980s.

The T-14 is the only third-generation tank in the world that is completely different from other main battle tanks used by the armed forces of different countries, military experts say.

The main distinguishing features of the T-14 are excellent driving performance, an uninhabited turret and a high level of crew protection.

Tankers are housed in a special armored capsule inside the hull of the tank, which allows the crew to stay alive even in the event of a direct hit in the turret and ammunition fire.

Such a hull layout with an uninhabited turret is unique for world tank building, military observer, retired colonel Viktor Baranets, told RT.

"T-14" Armata "is the only tank in the world, which involves finding the crew in an armored capsule, separated from ammunition and shells.

This is extremely important, since the crew remains alive in the event of an armored vehicle hit.

In addition, this tank has quite reliable armor, which not every western shell can penetrate, and a rather powerful engine, ”the expert noted.

The "Afganit" active protection complex and the "Malakhit" dynamic reservation system installed on the "Armata" are capable of securing a tank even from the latest portable anti-tank missile systems.

The multi-layer metal-ceramic armor of the frontal part is distinguished by an extraordinary strength - it is able to withstand a frontal hit of most modern and promising types of anti-tank shells and missiles.

The main weapon of the tank is a remote-controlled 125-mm smoothbore cannon 2A82-1M.

Also, the tank can be equipped with a 152-mm 2A83 gun.

The ammunition capacity is up to 40 different rounds in the automatic loader.

The target destruction range is from 7 to 8 km.

The combat weight of the tank is 48-55 tons, while the 12-cylinder turbo-piston engine A-85-3A with liquid cooling capacity of 1500 hp.

allows the car to reach speeds of 80-90 km / h on the highway.

The power reserve of the T-14 is over 500 km.

Commenting on the interest in the T-14 on the part of foreign customers, Viktor Baranets noted that tactical and technical characteristics and verification in real battle provide a reliable reputation for Russian tanks.

“The authority, the image of Russian tanks in the world is high, since they have proved to be effective in many hot spots of the world.

In addition, the Russian tank building school is distinguished by its ability to constantly modernize, which allows it to increase its tactical and technical indicators, ”the expert noted.

Promising support machines

The general director of Uralvagonzavod, Alexander Potapov, also said that in the future the Armata platform will be used not only as a main battle tank, but also to create promising tank support combat vehicles (BMPT).

“If we talk about BMPT, then the next step may be the installation of such a combat module on the Armata platform in 57 mm caliber.

We are working on this too.

And in this direction we will continue our development and research ", - quotes Potapov TASS.

Currently, Uralvagonzavod produces the Terminator-2 BMPT on the chassis of the T-72 tanks.

“BMPT is a new type of combat vehicles, which are currently in high demand, taking into account the experience of local military conflicts in recent years.

The vehicle is very promising, we are constantly working on its further development, constantly improving its combat characteristics, firepower, command controllability, security and other parameters, ”explained the general director of the plant.

The Terminator is a representative of a new type of armored vehicle designed to cover tanks on the battlefield.

The vehicle is armed with two 30-mm 2A42 cannons, two AGS-17 grenade launchers, four Attack-type anti-tank guided missiles and an upgraded Kalashnikov machine gun (PKTM) of 7.62 mm caliber.

Alexander Potapov added that the car will receive a new name.

“The only thing that has already grown strongly is the name“ Terminator ”.

I still want a Russian sound.

Let the terminators be in the USA, and we will have Ilya Muromets, Vladimir Monomakh or someone else, ”said the general director of Uralvagonzavod.

BMPTs based on the Armata tank can become the same promising product as the T-14 itself, military expert Yuri Knutov told RT in a commentary.

“The tank support combat vehicle being developed on the basis of the Armata is likely to have an automatic 57 mm cannon capable of penetrating any armor, improved Kord machine guns and other modern weapons.

These vehicles can ensure the safe advance of tanks and suppress the enemy's anti-tank points, ”said the expert.

The tactical and technical characteristics of Russian vehicles, in particular the advantages of the "Armata", such as improved armor, a powerful engine and improved dynamic protection and projectile interception system, make them indispensable for the Russian Armed Forces, the military expert added.

“Undoubtedly, the T-14 and BPMT will also strengthen the Russian tank forces, since they are the technology of tomorrow,” concluded Yuri Knutov.
