Biram Dah Abeid, who is also a parliamentarian, gave a press conference just after his meeting with the Mauritanian head of state to whom he said he exposed several complaints.
Biram Dah Abeid says he has found in the Mauritanian president the necessary listening skills and a willingness to establish regular relations with the opposition in the interest of all.
The leader of the abolitionist movement IRA calls for the recognition of all political parties and human rights organizations, including IRA and the Rally for Global Action (RAG).
An imminent return to ECOWAS?
“ We have asked for the legalization of the RAG party and the IRA abolitionist movement, but also other political parties which are arbitrarily banned. The president has given commitments that he will restore everyone to democratic legality , ”said Biram Dah Abeid.
Another concern exposed to the Mauritanian President Mohamed Cheikh Ghazouani, the return of Mauritania within the Cedeao, with the objective of reducing the administrative, fiscal and customs hassles of Mauritanian traders in the area of the Economic Community of the States of the West Africa (ECOWAS).
" We are asking and we are calling for Mauritania to return to its natural economic and even social and cultural environment which is ECOWAS ", declared the leader of the IRA.
Mauritania participated in the creation of ECOWAS in 1975 in Lagos, Nigeria, before leaving the West African organization in 2000 under the chairmanship of Maaouiya Ould Taya.
