The announcement comes about two weeks after Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a peace agreement, which was described by US President Donald Trump as "historic". The agreement was reached with the help of mediation from the USA and will normalize the relationship between the countries.

Reuters news agency, which refers to the state news agency WAM, writes that President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has given orders to end the boycott. Trade between the countries will now be allowed and Israelis can work in the United Arab Emirates.

In the coming weeks, delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will also agree on agreements on tourism, direct flights, communications and similar topics. A direct flight between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv is mentioned in the peace agreement as an opportunity to give Muslims access to Islam's third holiest site, the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The two countries will also soon exchange ambassadors and open embassies.
