This crime, like so many others, will not go unpunished  ”, reacted the Haitian President, Jovenel Moïse , Saturday 29 on Twitter.

The police are not yet able to clarify the exact circumstances of this murder. Me Dorval was killed at his home, on the heights of the capital. Elected president of the Port-au-Prince Bar Association in February, he regularly intervened in the media to discuss the many sensitive cases in the country.

Murders on the rise

The assassination comes two days after a businessman was shot dead in the middle of the day, in the city center, and adds to the long list of violent deaths recorded in the country in recent months . The upsurge in insecurity in Haiti is regularly denounced by civil society actors and human rights organizations.

Committed three weeks apart in mid-July and early August, the murders of two infants, aged 8 and 4 months, had shocked public opinion. Investigations to identify the perpetrators of these crimes have still not been successful.
