Failure to comply with the measures dictated by the authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19 will mean in Galicia facing a penalty of up to 120,000 euros. The maximum fine will come for non-compliance with quarantine or forced isolation for people infected with coronavirus, but it is also expected for not collaborating with the authorities.

Galicia thus joins a regulation that already exists, as confirmed by sources from the Galician Government, in five communities. Where appropriate, they are regulated in an order published this Saturday, in which he recalls that in the context of a health crisis "it is essential to maintain adequate measures for the prevention and control of the spread of the disease", taking into account its transmissibility and the absence of an effective vaccine or treatment.

The norm published in the Official Gazette of Galicia establishes that failure to comply with the quarantine obligation is a serious offense and if there are no other aggravating circumstances, a penalty will be proposed in its minimum degree, from 3,005.07 to 6,010.12 euros , but The amount will increase depending on the risk generated and will be up to 10,517.71 euros in the case of a medium degree of non-compliance and up to 15,025.30 euros in the maximum degree.

The sanction will be greater in the event that the person who breaches the quarantine has a positive result for Covid-19. If with your breach you do not maintain close contact or relationship with other people, the offense will be considered serious and a penalty of 3,005.07 to 6,010.12 euros will be proposed, but the fine will go up depending on the risk and health alteration produced.

Aggravating circumstances

If the authority determines that it caused serious damage or health risks, it will be a very serious offense and will range from 15,025.31 to 120,202.42 euros. In the case of non-compliance with the isolation obligation, the penalty in its minimum degree will be 3,005.07 to 6,010.12 euros and will increase to 10,517.771 and 15,025.30. If alteration, damage or serious health risks are caused, the offense will be considered very serious and the fine may reach 120,202.42 euros .

Both in quarantines and in isolations, when setting the amount, the aggravating circumstances of "serious health and social disturbance" and "number of people affected" will be taken into account if the rule to attend social events is breached multitudinous, parties or celebrations, establishments open to the public, or activities with crowds of people, especially if it causes infections or quarantines of other people.

They will also be considered as aggravating circumstances, in particular, close contact with people vulnerable to the disease and the damage caused in the event that non-compliance with quarantine has caused the need to close activities or establishments.
