While the Directorate General of Health warns that "the dynamics of progression of the epidemic is exponential" in France, Jean-François Timsit, head of the medical and infectious resuscitation service at Bichat hospital, evokes on Europe 1 on Saturday a probable peak of a second wave "around January 1".

INTERVIEW

The coronavirus is regaining ground in France. In just one week, the number of cases has increased by 58%. According to the Directorate General of Health, the Covid-19 epidemic has resumed an "exponential" progression in France. A recovery that raises concerns about the arrival of a second wave, but when? "The first mathematical models are in progress - we do not have all the figures in France - but they give an epidemic peak around January 1", indicates Jean-François Timsit, head of the medical and infectious resuscitation service at the Bichat hospital, in Paris, on Europe 1 Saturday.

A forecast which "is not necessarily a good sign" according to him but which also reveals that "the peaks will be much less close together" and "that the cases will be relatively dispatched throughout the winter". So the health system "will not have any problems being able to treat the sick in the best conditions", he assures us.
