In addition to notebooks, binders and other pens, masks are added this year to the traditional shopping for back-to-school supplies. A real budget for parents, even if the back-to-school allowance has been exceptionally increased by 100 euros.

TESTIMONY

"It's a bit of a rush before the start of the school year." It's the last weekend before heading back to school, and for some latecomers it means having to go to supermarkets to buy notebooks, pens, and other supplies. "There are a lot of people in the stores"

"It's a little complicated with what is going on right now and the current conditions," she explains. "We try to respect the distances, but it's not always easy: there are a lot of people in the stores. But normally it's good there, we have everything we need, we keep our fingers crossed." A traditionally important expense item for families, back-to-school supplies are even more painful this year, due to the lack of free masks for students.

"The box of masks leaves very quickly"

And if the re-entry allowance was exceptionally increased by 100 euros because of the health crisis, that does not change much. "It still cost us candy with the masks to buy," confirms Katia. "There is clearly a Covid budget. Even though the prices [of the masks] are low, the box is going very quickly."
