In a dialogue session entitled: “Emirati women and their contribution to the first line of defense,” organized by the Ministry of Finance, finally, on the occasion of Emirati Women's Day, they confirmed that these efforts enabled large-scale checks to be conducted, which helped besiege the pandemic.

The Director of the Nursing Department at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, Dr. Sumaya Abbas Al-Balushi, confirmed that the nursing profession constitutes about 50 to 60% of the health staff in the UAE, and women represent more than 70% of them.

She indicated that the role of nursing is essential and effective in the face of "Corona", as those working in this field are called the heroes of the first line of defense, pointing out that the nurse mother was moving as quickly as possible when she was called up, and she went from one emirate to another. She stressed that the Emirati woman has succeeded in proving herself in the first grade in the health sector, and the pandemic confirmed the need to increase the percentage of Emiratisation in the nursing sector, which suffers from severe deficits worldwide, where the shortage reaches nine million nurses globally.

She indicated that all the national nurses were summoned from their school vacations, as they returned to work immediately, in response to the call of the homeland, and also all nursing students from the first to the fourth academic year, who provided their services immediately without hesitation, along with the great efforts made by volunteers from all Majors.

She added that during the pandemic, and the accompanying description of the nursing staff as the heroes of the first line of defense, the demand for studying the profession of nursing increased, as more than 2,000 requests to inquire about studying the profession were received by female citizens during the past two months, and the numbers are expected to increase within a month. Next September, stressing that the Corona pandemic has demonstrated the wisdom of leadership and the responsibility of Emirati women to confront it.

She added that changing workplaces and specialization, in addition to family and social obligations, represented the most important challenges that faced the medical and nursing staff during the pandemic, noting that members of the medical staff were given the option to live in locations close to their work.

For her part, the doctor and head of the surgery department at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, Dr. Mona Obeid Al-Ayyan, said that the medical profession is a difficult profession, because it is primarily a human profession, stressing that “the Corona pandemic represented an opportunity to prove the extent of our responsibility as female competencies, gaining the confidence of the leadership And the community ».

She pointed out that the UAE empowered women, so she became in all fields, and she succeeded in being strong in the first line of defense, during the Corona crisis, so she became a support for the homeland, next to the man, and her role emerged very strongly, and she never hesitated to implement the orders and tasks placed on her. She emphasized that most of the field hospitals that were built were under the management of Emirati women leaders.

In turn, the Director of the Health and Safety Department at Dubai Municipality, Dr. Nassim Muhammad Rafi ', ​​said that the female inspectors, along with the residents of the Health and Safety Department in Dubai Municipality, played a great role in ensuring oversight and compliance with instructions during the spread of the disease, and none of them were late, even some of them Continuation for 24 hours, to ensure that more than 100,000 institutions adhere to precautionary measures, in addition to prompt response to reports, despite the difficulty of accessing some areas.
