The Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi announced the readiness of private schools operating in the emirate to receive students from grades kindergarten through fifth grade, starting today, after adopting one of the school reopening models that meet the aspirations and preferences of parents.
The department identified the health symptoms related to the "Covid-19" virus, which prevent students and teachers from entering the school building, pointing out that there is a mechanism to deal with cases of "Corona" infection inside the school.
In detail, the department confirmed that it is permissible for all authorized persons to enter the school building if they do not suffer from symptoms related to the virus, pointing out that there are eight main symptoms, including high temperature or fever (37.5 degrees Celsius) or more, coughing, and a feeling of fatigue or pain in Body, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, diarrhea or nausea, headache, loss of sense of smell or taste.
She stressed the need for schools to ask parents to check their children's temperature and check for symptoms before leaving the house, and to keep children who show symptoms, or feel generally unwell, at home, in addition to staff verifying their temperature, and the absence of other symptoms before leaving their homes, noting To the possibility of using the virtual doctor service, provided by the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, to evaluate symptoms and determine whether medical assistance, examination or home treatment is required for the case.
The department required schools to provide places for hand washing, or sterilization, in main places, such as access points to the school, playgrounds, entrances, classrooms, and the entrance to the school canteen, and others. And equipping the handwashing places with the necessary hygiene materials, sterile napkins and single-use paper towels, in addition to the instructional posters showing the methods of washing and drying hands, stressing the need to prevent the use of the air dryer due to its potential for air circulation and the possibility of transmitting diseases.
And she stressed the obligation of every school to establish an isolation room, or medical quarantine, in the school clinic. And equip it according to the approved specifications for use in cases of suspected infection of any of the faculty or students, and the presence of a specialized nurse in the school clinic to take the necessary preventive measures for suspected cases, and inform the competent authorities, indicating the need for the quarantine room to be well ventilated, and to have a course Private water, equipped with toilet and hand washing facilities.
She added: “In the event that the room is used by more than one person, the beds must be placed at least two meters away from each other. In the event that the school receives male and female students in the second and third cycles, two quarantine rooms must be provided, each with a private bathroom attached.
The department had announced that its compliance team conducted field visits that include 205 private schools, to determine the extent of their actual readiness to reopen their doors to issue immediate approvals to reopen schools and receive students on school grounds, with the start of the new academic year, pointing out that the team will continue its role in conducting Regular field visits to private schools to assess the risks of their operations.
