- As it looks now, it has been a bit up and down with the catches, for individual fishing water owners and commercial fishermen, who have a permit to fish for crayfish already, he says.

The supply depends a lot on how it blows and the temperature of the water. Today, it is the premiere for the public to fish for crayfish without a permit on public water in Lake Vättern. Fishing is allowed from Friday at 5 pm to Sunday at 5 pm for three consecutive weekends.

New fishing rules

It is also the premiere for the new fishing rules, which among other things means that a maximum of 60 crayfish may be caught and kept per person and day.

- This means that if you fish a whole weekend, you can only bring a maximum of 120 approved crayfish, at least 10 cm long, says Michael Bergström.

Private individuals fishing during public fishing may no longer sell live crayfish.

- There has been no ban on it before, now it is banned, says Michael Bergström.

The new rules mean that extra people are involved in controlling this year's crayfish fishery.

- We are quite a few units, these weekends on the lake. We are out and Västra Götaland will come with its staff, the Motala police will also be active with the boat and the maritime police. So we will be quite a few units that have the opportunity to control, says Michael Bergström.
