As the agency clarifies, on August 28, several hundred people gathered in the center of Tskhinvali after spreading information about the death of a local resident who had been detained the day before on suspicion of an attempt on the life of the republic’s Interior Minister.

Residents demanded the resignation of the government.

On August 18, in Tskhinvali, unknown persons fired at the car of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia Igor Naniev.

On August 28, the president of the republic held an emergency meeting on the death of a local resident who was under investigation on suspicion of an attempt on the minister's life.

A criminal case was initiated into the death of the man, and Naniev was removed from office for the duration of the investigation.
