The British Foreign Office condemned the detention of journalists in Belarus

“I condemn the mass arrest last night in Belarus of more than 50 journalists, including from the BBC, as well as local and international media. This was a blatant attempt to interfere with objective and honest reporting, ”he wrote on his Twitter.

The minister stressed that the Belarusian authorities must "stop persecuting journalists and protect freedom of the media."

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus reported that on August 27, about 50 journalists were brought to the police department in Minsk.

Most of them were released after checking their documents.
