Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has confirmed his willingness to resign, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.

The NHK said Prime Minister Abe decided to resign to avoid disrupting state affairs with a chronic illness.

Prime Minister Abe is scheduled to hold a press conference at 5 pm today (28th) at the Prime Minister's residence and is expected to explain this.

After resuming power in December 2012, Prime Minister Abe has been in office for more than seven and a half years in a row, rewriting the record of the longest-running prime minister.

Prime Minister Abe recently analyzed that ulcerative colitis, a chronic disease, has worsened from weekly magazines.
