The Mossos d'Esquadra have withdrawn a tweet that urged to denounce cases of sexual violence and have apologized to the injured "sensitivities", after a shower of criticism from feminism for the publication, illustrated with a photograph of a woman suffering a abuse.

"If someone gives you a kiss, touches your ass or breasts or even goes further without your wanting it, do not remain silent. Report it. There are no excuses, it is a crime. Let's end sexual violence," the retired tweet, which the profile of the Catalan police published yesterday afternoon.

Tweet removed from the Mossos account.

The withdrawn message was accompanied by an image that showed the torso of a woman, working in front of a computer, while a man from behind made a gesture of groping her chest.

The tweet was not long in sparking controversy on social networks, among those who consider that the message places women as responsible for sexual violence and reject the use of an explicit scene of sexual abuse to illustrate it.

This morning, the Catalan police have withdrawn the controversial message and have published a new tweet in which he emphasizes that the "only person responsible for sexual violence ALWAYS - with capital letters - is the author".

"It is important to report it so that the events do not go unpunished. Unfortunately, images like those that accompanied the previous tweet continue to be produced. We regret the sensitivities that it has hurt," adds the new message from the Mossos d'Esquadra.

The only person responsible for sexual violence is ALWAYS the author. It is important to denounce-ho because the fets did not go unpunished. Unfortunately imatges com les that accompany the previous piulada is continuen produint. I regret the sensitivities that have ferit

Among other criticisms from feminists or sectors linked to the fight against sexual violence, the ERC group spokesman in Congress Gabriel Rufián criticized the tweet from the Mossos d'Esquadra : "This message is a shame. Since the transfer of the responsibility to the victim until the choice of the photo. Such an important Ministry does not deserve so much clumsiness and incompetence ".

Also the ERC deputy in the Parliament Jenn Díaz has referred to the controversial publication: "Has no one in the Interior communication office considered that this tweet was totally inappropriate? The focus, the victim. The responsibility, hers. And the image, morbid. Twelve hours later, nobody has rectified ".

Has anyone at the Interior Communications Cabinet considered that this piulata is totally inappropriate? The focus, on the victim. Responsibility, d'ella. I imatge her, morbid. Dotze hours later, none have rectified. https://t.co/3wmG8UffRH
